Steve, I replaced mine at some point and all I remember is that you have to run the mirror downward and possibly inward some until you can reach the retaining wire. The wire unhooks and allows the flat plastic piece to come off of the motor.

I think I used a flat bladed screwdriver to unhook the wire.

Sorry if this is vague. As I remember, it wasn't too difficult.
