E300 1996 Side view mirror glass issue
Does anyone know how to reattach the glass to the black plastic motorized disc in the sideview mirror of the E300 1996? It broke when whacked by a trashcan and I have a good used one to replace it with. It looks like theres a little wire retainer on it.
Thanks in advance, Steve |

Steve, I replaced mine at some point and all I remember is that you have to run the mirror downward and possibly inward some until you can reach the retaining wire. The wire unhooks and allows the flat plastic piece to come off of the motor.
I think I used a flat bladed screwdriver to unhook the wire. Sorry if this is vague. As I remember, it wasn't too difficult.

Here's a picture of the mirror assembly without the cover: (Shot by another member here - "alabbasi")
If you tilt the mirror in and down as far as it will go, you can access and release the end of the spring wire seen on the right. It filps over and then you can remove the mirror plate.
