I totally agree. However, if you can't get to the repair soon, then at least consider topping off the lube in the diff until you can -- it's quick and, with the right tools, fairly easy. Mine also leaks around the pinion seal, and I just topped it off last weekend as part of a diagnostic for a problem I'm chasing.
