you need a 14mm allen socket to check the level- autozone carries a set of 4 big sockets for like $10. if the output seals leak, they are not too hard to do, but you need to pull the axles. input seal requires a special socket. and the back cover is easy enough to remove and reseal.


I think almost all 123's have a hum from the rear diff. just keep it full, mine hasnt gotten worse (louder) in 50+K miles running mobil 1 gear oil (fleet farm is cheepest, by like $7 a qt) you need just over 1 Qt to do a change.

this thread reminds me it is time for a change in my car- I know what I'll be doing today......

FYI-StarTek info EPC doesn't work on Macs.

If you dont want to buy the socket, bring over some gear oil and we can change it here (I am in 55406)
