I was afraid of that. I have removed the straight cover over the wiper arm shaft. I'm pretty sure the problem is in either the reciprocating mechanism under the oval shaped cover, or in the big pinion driven by the motor. It would be nice if Mercedes had made some provision for lubricating both of those without completely dismantling them.
