The flame could not "go into" as the can contains only the fuel and the flame requires oxygen to burn!

Thats not to say that the flame that close couldn't heat up and melt the plastic valve components causing a sudden release of the pressuruized contents to the atmoshpere containing a flame/ignition source! AKA: Big A#% Fuel Air Explosion!
