Pay for a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) by a MB-trained tech who is familiar with that vintage MB automobile so you're aware of any pending, expensive repairs. Even if the owner lacks detailed service records the tech should be able to tell if that 1998 E320 has been maintained properly, or not.
