Wife and I left a music store last night with a purchase (Midnight Madness sale). I was already unhappy about having to park so far from the store's outside lighting. I kept my eyes open, but my wife must have kept her's even wider as she nudged me on to hurry up with loading and get inside the car.

A 20-ish guy approached us while I was loading the items. He kept his distance while begging for money to help his family. Not sure if it was sincere or not, but the whole thing didn't sit right. I politely refused, got into the vehicle and drove off. I looked around during the whole episode expecting one or more accomplices to ambush us from a different direction while he distracted us.

I hope he was just trying to scam us and really wasn't in need. But approaching someone in the dark just doesn't instill confidence in anyone...
