.38 revolvers are very small.

Might work, but in PA could I do that? Or does he actually have to have the knife at my throat before I can use the gun?

I can see me holding these guys then getting arrested for assault with a deadly...

I bet they certainly would find some crooked lawyers and find a way to take everything away from you.

Never pull a gun unless you are 100% intending to use it and finish off the offending person(s).

Why? Frivolous lawsuits!

Say someone breaks into your house with a gun in their hand, you are able to sneak up on him and pull a gun to their head. To me, they already gave up their right to live by breaking and entering into my house with a weapon. He is holding a weapon of deadly force which I am not about to doubt that he intended to use in order to make his break-in more easy. If I were to shoot this person in the leg, disarm him and wait for the cops to arrive, I would be guaranteed a lawsuit by the crook for everything in my name. If I end this person's life, I have to live with that guilt but at least I would not have to worry about some crook getting a 3 million dollar payout from by bank account, property, etc.

Of course, this would only work in the southern states such as Georgia or Texas. You shoot someone in self defense in a suburb of New York and you are going to jail for years and your right to own a gun is gone for life.

Holy $h!t, MB! Glad you're ok, if not a little worse for wear. I'd have to say I wouldn't have expected a thing either in the same situation. It's been duly noted for future reference, though.

A 20-ish guy approached us while I was loading the items. He kept his distance while begging for money to help his family. Not sure if it was sincere or not, but the whole thing didn't sit right. I politely refused, got into the vehicle and drove off. I looked around during the whole episode expecting one or more accomplices to ambush us from a different direction while he distracted us.

I hope he was just trying to scam us and really wasn't in need. But approaching someone in the dark just doesn't instill confidence in anyone...
I live in the area - where did this occur?
