Now that I know the error (which is exactly 20%), I just factor that in before I calculate my fuel mileage. I also use the calculation for doing oil changes and service too. IE: a 6,000 mile oil change is actually a 5,000 mile oil change as indicated by the odometer.

how much was your garmin and does it record the mileage only when you turn it on? if you put it on odo mode when you start you car every time it keeps track perfectly or does it do it when the car is off too somhow?
