Lubricate the Linkage. it matters!!!!

Today I had an interesting even.
My accelerator pedal got stuck down. Luckily I was only 1000 feet from the house. I was able to shut down and tow the car back home. The linkage was binding/sticking. I thought I hit all the places that needed to be lubed.

The one I missed was the one mounted down low back of the engine drivers side. I started with removing the linkage to the Cruise Control, then the linkage to the egr system. Still binding.

Removed the linkage behind the Throttle cable. Hmm.. OK... throttle cable returned to its position. Found the culprit. The linkage that goes Vertical is binding. Lubed the pivot point for the plate.

Works like a champ.

Lesson learned. Remember to lube all linkage points.. Even the hard to reach ones.

Passing the lesson on.
