Well, after adjusting the tilt just that tiny bit, everything seems OK. It wore off the frayed areas and since has looked completely normal. I drove it around for awhile and nothing flew/fell off. So I think it was either the tilt of the pulley, or just a little defect on the belt that wore off and is no longer an issue.

I think I spent about an hour of this job just trying to figure out where the bolts were to relieve the tension on the AC compressor. I have a York so it was just the pulley, duh.
