My 1989 300E had a bad fuel line hose from the fuel filter to the fuel line. It was leaking pretty bad! I replaced the fuel filter while I was down there along with the hose! Now my car seems to idle smoother and it starts up right away even while hot! I would start with the filter! It could be a cheap fix!
