Previously I never used Wifi, but I could always see all the neighbors when I clicked on View Available Wireless Networks.

Today I installed a new Verizon DSl modem/router. Now when I go to View Available Wireless Networks, for the first time ever it says this:

Now take your internet cable and connect the router and the PC as you will using cable internet connection. In the Verizon box or in the instruction should give you IP address of the ROUTER. (So far wire connection between the router and PC ONLY). Now open your Internet Browser (Internet Explorer) on the address bar type the address, this should ask you for user name and password, usually is admin; admin (see you paperwork from the router) Suddenly you will have access to the Router control menu. You will see hundreds of options, One of them should ask you if you would like to let the Router to configure the Net connection. You can create password and name of YOUR connection. If you do not create password you will be providing Internet access to all the houses around you .

If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software.

If you want windows to configure this wireless connection, start the Wireless Configuration Zero (WCZ) service. See article 871122 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base."

Forget about this crap

So I looked there and did what it said but it didn't help. What is going on?
