At about her age I learned that driving skill the hard way - by rear ending an Oxnard CA police car!!! Heavy rain + flooded intersection + following too close + drum brakes = about the same damage as above to my 54 Chevy, none at all to the 1960 Ford Patrol Car. Nice guys, did a report but didn't give me a ticket, never said a word about being only 3 cars back at 40mph in the rain (probably impacted at 5mph or so), blamed it all on the weather! Gave me a couple of 'fatherly tips' about safe distances changing with rain. Won't soon forget that lesson, or my parents/family/friends "you drove into a WHAT?!?"
