Political correctness strikes again.
When we castrated the West Germans after WW2, this was the long-term result. Now we are stuck with not having them as an ally if needed.
If you call a German a Nazi for some reason now, he will get mad at you, maybe yell, but he'll never throw a punch.... that would be unseemly.
All those years in obedience school have taken their toll.
