Road & Track or Car & Driver had an article about a Mercedes German staff car in the late 80's. I think it was about the time one of the Bugatti Royales fetches over 10 mil. A big sum for a car back then, well even today. Anyways, they had a story about an ultra rare armoured MB German Staff car that was suppose to be located in Russia. It was the story of if this car existed and how many bribes to get to it and how many bribes to get it out of Russia. This was a common story for just about anything getting out of Russia, especially WW2 aircraft. Well they did manage to get the car out and to the US. They were expecting around 2 to 5 mil for the car. Nobody wanted it as it had the stigma of Hitler attached to it. I think it was valued at $700,000. A big loss to them
