Its really nothing new. Pol's have always been capable of incredible gaffs and plain stupid things said.

Include in that any type of famous person who routinely gets a mike shoved in their face. Tom Cruise, Jimmy the Greek, Howard Cosell and the list goes on....

I will admit that today is a whole different situation with the internet....a fellow can say something silly and the news will beat him home.
