I've been using the flat hose for years without any problems. If that or any line used collapses or gets clogged, it will kill power. Before I had a flat hose on one of my cars, I rigged up something that failed. The car slowed down and I heard a pop, turns out the line I had rigged up blew off. I limped home and installed a flat hose, no more issues.
