Well the next pay period pasted (June 11th) and still no direct deposit. I called for 3 days and no one in the department answered the phone. HR is totally useless and just says I need to wait until someone answers.

Well I finally got a hold of someone and she claimed it was some mistake with the hour designations of where I worked. She said she fixed it and I should receive a check by the end of the week.

It's the end of the week, and the mail came. Nothing is in it. I am getting more and more frustrated with this as payroll has been entirely useless here.

What should I do? I'm getting ready to call again, but I doubt doing so is going to fix the situation. Is there some agency in New York that I can report unpaid wages to?
I filed the paycheck the day after the direct deposit deadline??? What does that mean. Sounds as if you missed the first payroll submission deadline.

You asked for a check.

They said it's their policy to carry it to the next pay period. (They aren't likely to send you a check.btw) They probably use direct deposit of paychecks as the only means of payment. Why wouldn't they?

Do they process their payroll internally or use Paychex or ADP or some other outsourced 3rd party. If they outsource, that would add to the delay in getting you set up for direct deposit. Btw, were you asked to provide a voided check to set up a direct deposit account?

What is the Co's. time lag from the end of the pay period to payday (date of deposit). IOW, if pay period ends on Sunday, when do you get paid? The following Friday, 5 days later. That's typical.
Finally, is your pay period weekly, bi-weekly or semi-monthly? Timing can be everything in how soon you get a first paycheck.

Keep after them. Nobody cares about your money more than you.
