I'm kind of thinking about getting a new F550 and maybe having New Haven body put a dump body on it. I probably won't buy one for awhile though, just doing some research. How are the new Ford diesels?
How are they as trucks? Can you load them up and work them pretty hard? I would go with a one ton, but frankly thats not that much. I'm worried about overloading it. The 550 should have a better frame and suspension.
Also I want something that can tow a Cat 304 + trailer with ease, so figure 13k pounds. With a one ton thats right at the limit. I want to be able to tow a little machine, so it has to be able to handle up to 15k pounds. I also don't want a dog, I want something that will pull up the hills and can tow at 60mph without straining.
I'd buy a regular dump truck but I don't want to get a CDL, and I want a truck I can drive everyday, a 550 is only slightly larger than a regular pickup. I'm not looking to do a lot of site work, I just want something that can carry a couple of tons of process or top soil.
