I'm new to the forum and am looking at a 82/83 240D with 178,000 miles on it. The automatic transmission doesn't shift at all. Wondered if this car would be salvageable. With the engine running I can feel a light engagement and sometimes the car lurches a little bit but there is no forward or rearward motion at all even under engine rev. Easy fix? Terrible Fix? Is it worth the $600-800 I could probably get this car for? BTW the body has issues but definitely not a rust bucket. Thanks for the responses.
