'93 300D Transmission Replaced...now...

I have a whining sound that didn't exist before.

I hear it at idle and under throttle.

I know that I didn't tighten the exhaust clamps enough but I'm pretty sure I got everything else locked down.

Could the whining be the sound of the turbo spooling at low rpms leaking out the imperfect seal in the exhaust?

I need to tighten the one under the hood and the last joint of the exhaust as well.

What else could it be?

I also replaced the torque converter with the one that came on the replacement transmission.

The replacement had/has 120K on it.

It really sounds the way a manual transmission sounds when you reverse.

Is there a way to install the torque converter improperly?
