We moved to US when I was 17. Went to high school right away and I remember in my English class we had to read "Of Mice and Men" - which was written as it was spoken (i.e. I dunno...). At that time I was reading every book with my dictionary at hand but that didn't work on this book because the words and phrases weren't spelled correctly...
It was a bear to get through but I managed eventually...
