I track my mpgs by completely filling the tank, burp it for a few more bucks capacity and after the trip refill and burp again. I regularly get 38 mpg Canadian at 75 mph. This was a very good tank and yes I would like always get that result.

MPG varies as to city versus highway and mph traveled at.

The winter diesel is very evident.
It would have been interesting to know the source of the fuel.
You must have been lucky to have got a good batch with plenty of BTU's waiting to be liberated.
It just goes to show that maybe fuel composition is just as important as throttle pressure!!
I doubt that your driving style varies that much.
It would be an interesting exercise for a maths teacher to have their students do some statistical analysis on your data.
