The engine was clean of all carbon buildup.
Earlier in the day there were a couple of long hills. 10 to 12 miles long. Warning signs read "switch off air-conditioning to avoid over heating" l went up at 75 mph, air on and yes the temperature gauge rose to within 2 needle widths of the 100 mark. My understanding is that the electric fans do not come on until the temperature reaches 100.
I didn't but I should have done a WOT at the top.
Also the engine temperature dropped to 1 needle width below normal 80 operating temperature on the way down as the engine slowed the car.
Fantastic trip 8,254 miles, did not add oil but am about 3/4 down now.
