Thanks, I didn't think of any practical way to do it.
I think it MIGHT be possible to cut it with minimal kerf and install a metal "collar" at the split...it depends on how expensive a replacement is. The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of polishing the oil pan and that's going to be very difficult to do with the tube installed.
