Hello,
Im hoping to do my first valve adjustment on my 83 240d. Ive read up and looked at the instructions on diesel giant. The linkage on my 240d seems to be different- and Im confused how to disconnect the area by the manual engine stop lever.

There is a rod that goes straight back to the firewall, and I dont see how to easily separate it from the valve cover. The diesel giant instructions suggest disconnecting the bare minimum linkage and then resting the valve cover on the fender.

Hopefully the photos show what I am trying to describe.

My car is definitely overdue for a valve adjustment, Id really appreciate any help getting started on this. Thanks!
