The come along will do just fine for a 4000 lb car. I've used them many a time on a 8,000 lb diesel f350. It is definitely slow, but gets the job done. The cheapie ones from harbor freight are not worth it in my opinion- look at the ones from Grainger or Four Wheel parts. They are about 5 times the price, but much safer and a tool you will have forever.
