Amazes me how "temperamental" throttle linkage is

Lubed my throttle linkage about 9,000 miles ago. Recently let car sit for three weeks or so (maybe drove it 20 miles) while driving the other car. Drove it this morning and found linkage sticking....slow in letting go.

Are other cars like this or is this something peculiar to older Benzes? I'm going to start lubing mine every 5,000 miles.
