Hope this follow up helps someone else down the line.
If you have the smaller console mounted emergency flasher switch and your having any problems with your trun signals, then I would reccomend you do this first;
PeachPartsWiki: Cleaning the Hazard Switch
While cleaning my switch I discovered the problem with my turn signals. Those crafty Germans routed the turn signals through the hazard switch which has 3 settings (might appear as 2 settings from the outside) 1. 4 way flashing, 2. no flashing, and 3. turn signal flashing. My hazard switch had some broken plastic shown in the attached pictures and wasn't shifting the contacts into turn signal mode. It would however do the 4-ways and the neutral.
After cleaning, I reassembled the switched with it in turn signal mode and when reinstalled my turn signals were working again. I'll need to replace my broken switch for it to switch between the settings.
I also disassembled the window switches for a good cleaning and regained the use of one of my rear windows so that I now have 3 functioning windows. Passenger's rear works from both the console switch and the door switch but driver's rear works from neither. Guess its time to pull the door panel off and take a look.
As for cleaning both the hazard switch and the window switches, I used a can of spray contact cleaner along with some compressed air to get the nasty drink spills. For the contacts themselves, I got good results from an electric eraser (you older engineering / drafting types know what I'm talking about) and a fingernail file.
