I have had several Carfax and an Autocheck report done on vehicles. The one common element of them is that they were
wrong about various facts regarding the vehicles involved. They are no substitute for a thorough inspection. They only report what they can find in public records. Do your homework , learn the common failure points for the vehicle in question , look at several vehicles to get a feel for the problems, look at good ones , look at crappy ones. Within a short time you will get a sense of how to judge what is worth buying. Get an AAA inspection or similar
