That perspective seems kind of harsh without knowing all the facts.

"A Mercedes" could mean anything from a beater W201 to a new S class.
It's pretty hard to judge what is going on there. If I was out of work long enough I'd be going in for assistance, and I'd be one of those "in a Mercedes".
And if you already own stuff, what are you supposed to do? Just get rid of it so that people on a MERCEDES forum won't be judgmental? Yeah, when you had money maybe you bought a nice car and had designer labels on your clothes, so what? If you lost your job and got foreclosed in one of the rackets you're still out of work and needy, aren't you?
It seems rather inappropriate and reckless to extrapolate that they are getting assistance and buying designer labels.
Sure, there are people stroking the system, there always have been. But to simply assume they are because they showed up with a Polo shirt and a Mercedes is truly
non sequitur.
