For anyone who might have the same question in the future here is what I found out from an online owners manual:

1. MB recommends towing flatbed
2. if can't do #1, tow with 4 wheels on the ground short distance
3. MB does NOT recommend towing with 2 wheels off the ground if at all possible to avoid damage to AWD system
