The only way to clean the inside is the slow and painful way of using brushes and solvent. Mineral spirits or similar will assist the job with sufficient time. They will dissolve the deposits slowly, but a brush is required to finish the job.
A brush with a wire handle that can be bent is preferred to access the interior via the EGR passage.

not quite so...
the aluminum "carburetor DIP" sold in the gallon paint cans, works GREAT to remove and PRISTINE clean the intakes... however, the intake will not fit in the can... you'd need 3 cans, and a deep bucket to dip the manifold in...
on the 603 crossover tube, I can dip one end, then the other, and have a perfectly clean tube... the 617 intake is just a tad longer...
I have a 15Gallon steel drum I use for sorting stuff, it's deep enough for the manifold, but that would be over 150.00 in cleaner... I don't know.
I suppose you could set the manifold up so all the ports are up, and seal the turbo inlet, and fill the manifold with the dip, but that stuff is REALLY bad news if it spills... not for the faint of heart...
