I know the assembly on this setup is much bigger but i think it will fit and for $10 I thought I might as well get it. So anyone out there know if the second gen style rotor and cap would be able to be used on a first gen car?

I've had distributor misery and the only real solution was genuine MB cap and rotor. I've got Beru wires and non-resistor plugs and that setup gives me confidence.
I would urge against anything non-standard and cheap. Yes, I know it's easy for me to spend your money but those parts are critical and, certainly in the case of my 300CE-24, they live in a hot and hostile environment. My cheap replacement rotor lasted less than 18 months and failed and left me stranded for 2 hours while it cooled down. Genuine MB solved the problem.
