Imagine speeding down a wooded country road in the middle of the night. No moonlight. All of a sudden you lose all lights but the bike keeps chugging along in the pitch black. After about 20 seconds of fighting a panic attack the lights come back on by themselves.

So did my dad. He's told me stories of that happening with his '52 Triumph. I'm hoping that I can build a proper harness when I ever get around to putting the '46 Triumph together...
