From what I have seen looking into 2 different 85 300D tanks, the return line comes into the bottom of the tank and sticks up about 1 to 2 inches. I always thought from what I have read, I got the impression the return line came in from the top and ended about 1/2 way down.

I had both of these tanks out of the vehicle and was cleaning them before installing into a 240D.
