I've got my eye on an 87 300TD with 158k on the clock. Everything works except the telescoping wheel, a finicky gas gauge, the cruise control, and the power antenna. The A/C blows cold, it starts and shifts nice, the interior and exterior are relatively mint given the age. Guy is asking $6300. That seems a little high but given the condition of the car, not outrageous. One item of concern is the Lovecrap conversion done on it. It's supposedly the newer system but I have not found anything praising these systems regardless of version. Is there a good veggie conversion in existence or do they all suck? What should I suspect $ wise to remove all of it if need be?
