After watching the DVD, I started asking the contractors what they made per month, and how much they charged the .gov for things. Here's some of the things I remember.
$45 per meal from the DFAC.
$100 per portapotty, per cleaning, usually 1x-2x daily, around 1k of them on a post.
$5000 for a dumpster pickup....
$4000 for a "k rail"
$12000 for a "t wall"
$10,000 a month for a single soldiers "rent" to stay in a "chu" (Furnished and insulated 10x40 shipping container, shared with 5 other soldiers, divided into 3 sections)
And after they shut down parts of the base I was on, they lined up 2008, 2009, and 2010 explorers, trailblazers, f150's, e350's, and other on post vehicles in neat little rows, left the keys in them, and removed the section of t-walls around the vehicle yard. The locals picked them up within a day.
$250,000 worth of brand new up armored heavy hauling military semi's (916's) cut up for scrap in camp arifjan Kuwait DRMO, and we shipped back 2 junk worn out pos blown up scrapyard grade 916's, after putting 20k into suspension and chassis replacements, not including shipping from Kuwait to Minnesota... To turn them in for scrapping...
I'm pretty livid about the stupid amounts of money in the desert.
PM me if you want a copy of the DVD. The DVD is pretty pointed, but I was there, and asked the questions of the people working the contracted jobs.
