War Is A Racket

Surprisingly timely. A speech delivered in 1933, by Major General Smedley Butler, USMC, a twice decorated Congressional medal of of honor recipient, and apparently, some sort of pinko peacenik.

It is a racket, I agree with the old warhorse Marine 110%.

OTOH I wouldn't mind selling the firearms behind it.

I watched "iraq for sale" when I was in Iraq... I will send a copy of the DVD to anyone who wants it.

After watching the DVD, I started asking the contractors what they made per month, and how much they charged the .gov for things. Here's some of the things I remember.

$45 per meal from the DFAC.
$100 per portapotty, per cleaning, usually 1x-2x daily, around 1k of them on a post.
$5000 for a dumpster pickup....
$4000 for a "k rail"
$12000 for a "t wall"
$10,000 a month for a single soldiers "rent" to stay in a "chu" (Furnished and insulated 10x40 shipping container, shared with 5 other soldiers, divided into 3 sections)

And after they shut down parts of the base I was on, they lined up 2008, 2009, and 2010 explorers, trailblazers, f150's, e350's, and other on post vehicles in neat little rows, left the keys in them, and removed the section of t-walls around the vehicle yard. The locals picked them up within a day.

$250,000 worth of brand new up armored heavy hauling military semi's (916's) cut up for scrap in camp arifjan Kuwait DRMO, and we shipped back 2 junk worn out pos blown up scrapyard grade 916's, after putting 20k into suspension and chassis replacements, not including shipping from Kuwait to Minnesota... To turn them in for scrapping...

I'm pretty livid about the stupid amounts of money in the desert.

PM me if you want a copy of the DVD. The DVD is pretty pointed, but I was there, and asked the questions of the people working the contracted jobs.

Unfortunately, I believe that this is typical of most all things that have the federal governments hands in them.

The Romans gathered forces and surpluses thru taxation much the same way as today, accuring debt to be put on future tax payers in turn furthering it to the nation.A conquest of invasion was a pinnacle of events in any one rulers term .If an invasion was successful then the wealth from it went usually to those tied too it,the politicals and their businessmen elite.Ceasar stirred things up when he wanted a unitey of nations ,gathering the conquered and enviting them to be members of the Senate House. The money which was behind the business of war knew the game was being challenged ,profit could not be made in peace with surrounding countries. He had already been claimed Emperor for 10 yrs and made claims for further rule before his death. The Senators , as history goes, stabbed him 23 times on the Senate floor were he died .The first recorded autopsey in history is that of Ceasars body and is a chilling reminder of what happens to a war slavened country and those who challenge it.
