good advice. I have not started the car cold. the glow plug harness is totally cracked up. missing a lot of insulation. I'm thinking some of the harness was replaced, as the wrapped sections on the engine appear totally new, but the section feeding the GP relay are in bad shape. the seller is a auction flipper, zero in the car on his end, and he wants a good chunk of change for the car... the idea of a 124 that has decent power on the road, and can achieve 40mpg has me interested, plus the interior parts it needs I have sitting on the shelf in my garage... along with plenty of stuff to keep the car up. the GP cover bolts are all stripped... as are the bolts on the intake crossover... big red flags. also, the seller had to bring the car to his house for me to look at it, thus I did not get to see how it started cold... a melted harness to the GP's would not hurt anything unless it shorted to ground, and it's in a heavy plastic conduit... but a broken GP scares the bejesus out of me... and I did not have the tools to pull stripped headed cover screws...
I am still teetering on the fence about the car...
