I watched the election coverage last night on my laptop from the BBC. I found them to have a better presentation than the US networks. Got some interesting perspectives from various commentators they had on, both British and American.

Two things that jumped out at me were the observation by their foreign affairs correspondent in Beijing that the Chinese leadership were hoping for an Obama win because in their opinion he was more "bully-able" than Romney and they would be able to push him around more in relation to regional affairs where they place a higher emphasis.

Secondly one of the women commenting on the "boneheaded" remarks by the two idiots who mouthed off about "legitimate rape" and rape induced conception being "gods will" along with Romneys suggestions of overturning RvW when he was sucking up to the religious nutjobs in the primaries as being a significant factor in turning off women.

That along with the moronic ads in Ohio about Chrysler and Jeep after Romney had alienated the blue collar workforce there by telling them they should have gone bankrupt suggests to me that Republicans were staggeringly inept in this campaign.

If the Republican party is going to not fade into obscurity in the future the first thing they have to do is dump the religious nutjobs who have hijacked them. Absent that they will never be able to appeal sufficiently to the middle swing voters who will break increasingly for the Dem's in the future.
