I watched it on the BBC

I watched the election coverage last night on my laptop from the BBC. I found them to have a better presentation than the US networks. Got some interesting perspectives from various commentators they had on, both British and American.

Two things that jumped out at me were the observation by their foreign affairs correspondent in Beijing that the Chinese leadership were hoping for an Obama win because in their opinion he was more "bully-able" than Romney and they would be able to push him around more in relation to regional affairs where they place a higher emphasis.

Secondly one of the women commenting on the "boneheaded" remarks by the two idiots who mouthed off about "legitimate rape" and rape induced conception being "gods will" along with Romneys suggestions of overturning RvW when he was sucking up to the religious nutjobs in the primaries as being a significant factor in turning off women.

That along with the moronic ads in Ohio about Chrysler and Jeep after Romney had alienated the blue collar workforce there by telling them they should have gone bankrupt suggests to me that Republicans were staggeringly inept in this campaign.

If the Republican party is going to not fade into obscurity in the future the first thing they have to do is dump the religious nutjobs who have hijacked them. Absent that they will never be able to appeal sufficiently to the middle swing voters who will break increasingly for the Dem's in the future.

I agree that watching coverage from outside US gives a different perspective on things. I was flipping between BBC, CBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, and a lot of PBS - the latter (low budget, no fancy graphics nor army of pundits) were running out of things to say during that long delay before Romney's speech...

I am Canadian but find US politics fascinating, and not only because decisions below the border affect us up here. As comic as the republicans are to watch at times (during their self-destructive fits), I agree they have a lot of soul-searching to do, they seem way out of touch with people realities in the US. It's interesting that most people polled in other countries (like Canada, Britain) favor the democrats.

The GOP is my way or the highway. Pro life, no gay rights, rape is God's will mentality trump everything put forwards by the other side. Now it is time to find scrape goat(s) for their loss. They would never look inwards and try to be more inclusive.

This seems fairly accurate and how most of the republicans I have interacted with seem. A lot of them seem to think they KNOW things better than everyone else. At least politically. I think thats on both sides though.

I hope the Repo Party dies a quick death. It's well deserved. Then we should actively seek the Democrat Party auto-destruct sequence and initiate it.

Nature abhors a vacuum. Somehow a contender for power will arise. A permanent majority party inspire a legitimate opposition . . . one hopes.

If only it was that easy. I hear it's hidden somewhere no one will ever look. Hillary's nether-regions.

Don't know. I just went to the BBC website on my laptop, bbc.com and clicked on their election coverage and up they popped. Interestingly at one stage, just before Romneys speech the feed stopped and I got a message saying that it was no longer available in my area, whatever that meant. I closed the window and opened up an new browser window, re-connected to the BBC and it started right back up again.

I wouldn't call it "interesting" as such, just inevitable and not at all surprising.
They're all terrified the islamonutjobs will come get em if a Republican is president.

Why did Romney associate himself with the religious nutters? They wouldn't have voted for Obama anyways.

Money and foot soldiers. Unless there was some other relevant social issue on the ballot to get them to vote, they could just as easily stayed home.
