I just remembered that as there are several (or at least one) US owned internet provider(s) in the UK the BBC allow certain connections from the US in an attempt to stop the complaints from people in the UK who have what appear to be US IP addresses - my obviously Dutch IP address gets chucked out the system really quickly...

...I think I'm going to have to find a proxy server in the UK if I want to use the BBC iplayer...
