They seal really well. I've had them in place for 12k miles including pulling the engine once to replace the trans. If there were any leaking you could use some thread sealer or Teflon tape. Best of all, once they are installed, you never need to remove them.

One important tip is, when you driil out the cooler to 3/4", use a step drill not a twist drill.
