OK folks, some info from my experience...
To remove the seat back you need to first open the cover,

remove the trim around the seat belt receivers (4 wood screws)

this exposes two mounting screws for the seatback. Remove these:

Remove the end cap securing screws on each side:

Then lift and swing out the end cap from the bottom side (next to the panel hinge). When doing this you want to apply some downward pressure on the endcap (on the side you took the securing screw out) and simultaneously lift outward from the bottom. Be careful like many MB plastic parts have little mounting clips on the backside that must be pried out and they will likely break. Each end cap has two of these clips an upper and lower. Be careful, I snapped two of mine, luckily only one per side. I glued the broken clips back on, but even if you dont the end caps have shrunken enough that they fit tightly back on, but save them if you can.

This reveals two more seatback mounting screws. Remove them and the seatback can be lowered slighly to release from the top trim center clip and then you can remove the seatback completely. This reveals the location of the lift handle mounting screws, just below the center trim cap.

Apply some threadlocker reattach the lift handle and reassemble in reverse order of removal.
