There aren't a huge lot of qualified and reliable Bosch pump service shops around, and it's a rule of thumb that if you have X number, you will have X-minus that number who are brave enough to get into custom work. Even for extra money, custom anything in the auto trade can bring additional headaches and issues that many shop owners don't feel pays in the long run from a business (or sanity) point of view.

In Europe they have a much greater concentration of diesels hence a greater market for rebuilders and service shops for the pumps... which implies more of those will do custom work.

I remember talk on another forum/list of a guy in CT years back who was supposed to be very good. He was Hungarian I believe. But that was long ago, he could be long retired by now.
