Yes, Hammering as in many knocks. As you would immagine the sound of an engine with really busted motor mounts, only I think its comming from the rear. the knocking starts as soon as i turn the steeringwheel to the right over the point where the car is no longer going left or straight, but is starting to go right. note: only when the car is moving the noise starts.
the noise does not stop until I stop the car, or turn the car to go straight or left again.

I thought I'd try and stuff some rubber underneath the busted gearboxmount to try and stimulate a gasket, to see how that works out. But I still dont see why that would not cause a noise when turning left or going straight...
