I was doing the weekly "stick my head under the car and look for leaks" when I noticed coolant coming out of my engine - specifically (sorry for the lack of knowledge about parts), from an area right behind the fan blade. Basically, if you look right behind the fan mounting, there's a metal thing screwed into the block. The coolant was coming, rather rapidly, out of the bottom of the that seal... or lack there of.

Water pump? Gasket? A new rainforest with an ecosystem based on coolant?

I topped off the coolant, ran the engine, and after a while it stopped leaking. Then later, it started again.

Thoughts?
